About this tour

Embark a traditional Dahabiya sailing boat with modern facilities, the perfect place to relax and watch the Nile landscape gliding by. It varies in size from 3 to 12 cabins which makes it ideal for small groups and family vacations.
One of the advantages of the dahabiya is that it can anchor at any location along the Nile banks. This gives more possibilities for site visits, activities, and experiences along the Nile compared to the regular Nile Cruises which are limited to only 2-3 stops along the same sailing route.
Downriver from Aswan to Esna – 3 Nights Itinerary
Day 1 » Boarding in Aswan – Kom Ombo – Gebel el Silsila

You will have dinner on board the Dahabiya or round a campfire on the tranquil banks of the Nile. Second night on board.

Itinerary

The pick-up point for this trip is the address of your choice in Aswan. At 9 am, you’ll be met by your Djed Egypt Travel host.
Transfer from any address in Aswan to embark the Nile Dahabiya. After a welcome by the crew, the boat sets sail towards a small island for a walk through the tranquil countryside. After lunch on the sundeck, you visit the only double temple of Egypt in Kom Ombo, dedicated to two gods, Sobek and Haroeris. The temple has double entrances, procession routes and sanctuaries. Continue sailing to the ancient sandstone quarries at Gebel el-Silsila. First night on board.

After breakfast, you explore the rock temple and the remains of monuments in the old quarries. While daily life on the riverbanks gets underway and the first fishermen are at work, you can relax on the sundeck while the crew sails to Edfu. Here you see the fantastically well-preserved temple of Horus, the falcon god. The walls of the innermost part of the temple are completely covered in texts, which actually makes it a library carved in stone. The day ends at a small Nile island where you have dinner around a campfire. Second night on board.

Sail to El Kab, the ancient city of Nekheb with temples and rock tombs from the Old Kingdom. Visit some of the tombs cut into the cliffs and the remains of its temples. Sailing to Esna. Third and last night on board.

Your Dahabiya journey ends this morning in Esna. Enjoy a final breakfast before transferring to any address in Luxor (45 km south – approximately one hour’s drive), arriving around 11 am.
